Petitions to remove ‘Muzzo’, but hospitals respond they won’t

TORONTO – The name Muzzo is there to stay. In the aftermath of the news of the suicide of Edward Lake, father of the three children killed in 2015 by Marco Muzzo driving drunk, from many parts and with increasing insistence citizens ask for the removal of the family name from the hospitals to which they have given millions of dollars in donations. But hospitals in Toronto and Vaughan responded in spades. Meanwhile, the two petitions, which on change.org (one and two) urge that the name Muzzo disappear from the walls of hospitals, continue to collect more and more signatures.

Ontario: another 38 dead and over 4 thousand in hospitals. 4-year-old girl dies of Covid-19 in Quebec

TORONTO – Hospitalizations on the rise, but there are only two more patients in intensive care. Today, in Ontario, the number of patients in hospitals increased by 296 units: now they are 4,183, of which 580 in intensive care, even if for the latter the increase is very slight (on Monday the people present in the hospital were 3,887, of which 578 in intensive care).  (more…)

Ontario: 74,783 active cases, 491 in hospitals

TORONTO – It was a Christmas under siege for Ontario: almost ten thousand new cases of Covid-19 a day, with a positivity rate that has reached 20%. Impressive data, which highlight the very high spread of the virus which, however, does not correspond to an increase in the proportion of hospitalizations: patients obviously increase (with similar numbers the opposite would be impossible), but their number does not reach, at least moment, equally impressive “peaks”. And this should at least comfort, because while the data relating to the tests are not complete (as we will explain in a few lines), there is no escaping those of the hospitalizations: those who are sick end up in hospital. Boom in admissions: more than 300 in Ontario’s hospitals

TORONTO – New decline in infections in Ontario which today recorded 481 Covid-19 infections (and 1 death) against 552 on Monday, 666 on Sunday, 661 on Saturday and 598 on Friday. After the surge of the weekend, therefore, cases return to decline even if attention remains high, especially on the front of hospitalizations that are increasing in a worrying way.
