Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – This past week was an interesting week on the COVID 19 front from many perspectives but the most intriguing for me was the news that the current director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) is running again for a 5 year term. The current Director-General (in the pic, from www.who.int) in my opinion as head of the WHO has just been part of a Global Failure and yet he is seeking another 5-year appointment, which to-date is uncontested. →
This week, the Federal government unveiled the minority Liberal cabinet. Jean-Yves Duclos takes on a new role as the Minister of Health. Now, the healthcare community awaits to see how campaign promises materialize into concrete policies to improve a battered healthcare system in the wake of Covid-19.
