TORONTO – The Covid vaccine does not convince parents. The number of children under the age of five who are vaccinated against the virus in Ontario is even lower than the relatively small figure that many experts expected. Despite being available for two months, about 6% of the youngest age group have received the first dose.

Airports in Canada, Covid-tests suspended for vaccinated people

TORONTO – After countless hardships and protests, the federal government turns around and removes – until June 30 – random Covid-tests for vaccinated vaccinated at airports. It was announced on Friday by the Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra. Only unvaccinated travelers will still be “tested” at airports. Then, starting from July, all Covid-tests will be carried out outside the airports.  (more…)

TORONTO – Covid-19 vaccines are working and are helping to keep the contagion under control at this stage of the pandemic. Ontario, more new Covid cases among vaccinated

TORONTO – Today’s news is not in the number of new Covid-19 cases recorded (627, down from 741 on Sunday but up from 552 a week ago), but in the vaccination status of the majority of the infected. Of today’s infections in Ontario, in fact, 286 concern fully vaccinated people, 282 unvaccinated people, 36 concern people with unknown vaccination status and 23 with a dose of the vaccine. Thus, for the first time, infections in vaccinated people outnumbered those in unvaccinated individuals.  (more…)

Covid-19 in Ontario, 666 cases: 300 are fully vaccinated

TORONTO – 666 new cases. A decidedly not very reassuring number, in every sense, that of the new cases recorded today in Ontario where there were also 7 deaths from Covid-19. The province therefore reported the highest number of infections in almost 40 days, to be precise since 2 October, when 704 cases were detected. The causes have risen in the last: 661 Saturday, 598 Friday, 642 Thursday. And the seven-day moving average is now 563, significantly higher than a week ago (468). The positivity rate also rises: today the laboratories processed 24,853 test samples, generating a positivity rate of 2.7% (Thursday it was 2.1%).  (more…)

Ontario, the number of vaccinated infected people increases

TORONTO – The trend of infections in Ontario is stable. Today, provincial health officials reported 454 new cases of Covid-19 and 9 deaths which bring the total, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 9,912. The count of infections is therefore in line with those of the past few days: 441 Tuesday and 480 Monday. 636, however, the cases on Sunday. Ontario’s seven-day moving average is now 502, still high from last week (379). With 33,364 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the positive rate in the province now stands at around 1.8%.  (more…)

Ontario, fluctuating infections: now they are decreasing. The percentages of vaccinated in Canada

TORONTO – The pace of infections in Ontario is once again fluctuating. Today, the province recorded more than 300 new cases (331) and another 7 deaths. Infections down, therefore, compared to 422 on Monday but up compared to 269 a week ago. However, much better than a year ago: on this same day of 2020, the province had reported 948 new cases. Ontario, more than 400 cases: 38% are fully vaccinated

TORONTO – With more than 400 cases in the last twenty-four hours, Ontario exceeds 600,000 infections recorded since the beginning of the pandemic: 600,377. Today, therefore, provincial health officials reported 422 new cases of Covid-19: a significant increase compared to the 326 cases of last Monday and more even compared to the 340 infections on Sunday (when, however, more swabs were processed: 25,707 against 19,840 today) and 356 on Saturday.  (more…)

TORONTO – New cases and active infections continue to decrease in Ontario. Today, provincial health officials recorded 373 infections, down from 443 on Sunday and 458 on the same day a week ago. 108 of the cases involve fully vaccinated people, representing approximately 29% of all reported cases. Ontario: over 500 infections, almost all young. 480 cases in Quebec, 356 not fully vaccinated

TORONTO – Ontario remains between 500 and 600 new daily cases of Covid-19: 573 Friday, 654 Saturday and 535 Sunday (latest figure released). Ontario’s seven-day moving average is now 537, down from last week when it was 596. 29,755 tests were carried out on Sunday: the positivity rate in the province stood at 1.8 percent. Air passengers and federal public servants must be vaccinated by end of October

TORONTO – New federal crackdown on mandatory vaccination. Starting from October 30, all civil servants and those traveling by plane, train or ship aged 12 and over will have to be vaccinated against Covid-19. The turning point was announced today by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his deputy Christya Freeland, following a measure that had already been presented during the electoral campaign that preceded the vote on September 20.  (more…)

Alberta collapses: 5,181 cases in three days. An ICU patient: “Get vaccinated”

EDMONTON – Alberta still in full emergency: there are 5,181 new cases of Covid-19 registered in the province – which has 4,371,000 million inhabitants – over the weekend. Out of 15,989 tests carried out on Friday, 1,882 infections were confirmed; on Saturday, 1,541 cases were identified from 14,846 tests and another 1,758 infections from 15,037 tests on Sunday.  (more…)

Mask Mandate While Waiting for Children Age 5 to 11 to Get Vaccinated

TORONTO – Last week, I passed the play yard of an elementary school and saw children, presumably aged five and six, enjoying the pleasant morning’s tail of summer weather, running and playing games they concocted or just enjoying each other’s company. Italy, more than 3.5 million over 50s are not vaccinated

BOLOGNA – Coronavirus in Italy: new cases stable for three weeks, but hospitalizations among the unvaccinated continue to rise. Also because in August there was a drop in the vaccination campaign (-66.5%) and still more than 3.5 million over 50s remain uncovered (the over 50s in Italy are 27,353,240 out of a population of 59,258,000). Ontario, 526 new cases today: only 350 are not vaccinated

TORONTO – There are now more than 500 new cases of Covid-19 in Ontario every day: today, Ontario health officials reported 526, after 511 on Sunday, 578 on Saturday, 510 on Friday and 513 in Thursday. Prior to Thursday, the province had not reported more than 500 cases in 24 hours since June 13, when 530 new cases had been registered. 60% of Toronto adults fully vaccinated

TORONTO – Ontario’s Covid-19 immunization campaign continues unabated. While the provincial government has decided to bring forward phase 3 of its roadmap on reopenings, with the relaxation of numerous restrictions starting from Friday, at the local level the municipal administrations have decided to change strategy to reach more and more people in this fight against time: if in recent weeks the focus was on neighborhoods where the incidence of the Delta variant was greater , starting today, more doses of vaccine will be sent to areas where the vaccination rate is lowest. Half of Ontario adults now vaccinated with second dose

TORONTO – Ontario’s mass immunization campaign against Covid-19 continues unabated. The provincial government today announced an important milestone reached in the last few hours: one in two adults in the province has already received the first and second dose of vaccine. During a press conference Christine Elliott, together with Sollicitor Genral Sylvia Jones, reiterated that the vaccination campaign is not only meeting the timetable foreseen by the executive, but that even the numbers are higher than those budgeted. Some restrictions will soon be lifted for people who are fully vaccinated and who have proof of vaccination.

The government said only Canadians and permanent residents will be allowed to bypass the mandatory hotel quarantine when entering Canada, provided they upload their documentation to a dedicated ArriveCan app prior to arrival. (more…)
