Ontario, the number of vaccinated infected people increases

Marzio Pelù, November 10, 2021August 25, 2023

TORONTO – The trend of infections in Ontario is stable. Today, provincial health officials reported 454 new cases of Covid-19 and 9 deaths which bring the total, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 9,912. The count of infections is therefore in line with those of the past few days: 441 Tuesday and 480 Monday. 636, however, the cases on Sunday. Ontario’s seven-day moving average is now 502, still high from last week (379). With 33,364 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the positive rate in the province now stands at around 1.8%.

Of the new cases reported today, 249 involved people who were not vaccinated, partially vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown, while the remaining 205 reports involved fully vaccinated people. It is evident, from these data and from those of the last few weeks, that the number of “fully vaccinated” who fall ill is increasing day by day. Ontario’s health experts tried today to give an answer, highlighting that the number of individuals from Covid-19 identified in fully vaccinated individuals will naturally increase as more people receive doses. The more immunized there are, the more the number of them can also increase, among them, who get sick anyway because vaccination helps to reduce the risk of serious symptoms related to Covid-19 and hospitalization, but does not totally exclude the possibility of contract the virus.

Returning to the data, 148 people are hospitalized in Ontario hospitals: 61 are fully vaccinated and 87 people are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. 75 of these patients are in intensive care: 59 of these are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, while 16 are fully vaccinated. 414 healings, today: the total number of patients healed in Ontario since the beginning of the pandemic is 590,641 (the total number of confirmed cases is 604,606, including deaths and recoveries).

Let’s see the distribution of today’s cases: in the Greater Toronto Area, 42 new cases in Toronto, 33 in the Peel region, 34 in the York region and 11 in the Durham region; outside the GTA, Ottawa reported 43 new cases and Simcoe-Muskoka 38 new cases; all other regions reported fewer than 30 new cases of the virus.

According to the province’s epidemiological report, of the 454 new infections reported today, 81 cases were identified in children under the age of 12, 40 cases in young people between the ages of 12 and 19, and 138 cases in people aged 20. and 39 years old. today, 119 of the cases detected concern schools across Ontario: of these infections, 102 were recorded in students, 10 in staff members and 7 in unidentified individuals. 497 schools with at least one confirmed case and two closed structures.

Vaccine Front: 11,107,758 people in Ontario have received both doses of the vaccine and are considered fully vaccinated against the virus. In the past 24 hours, provincial health officials have reported 15,257 doses of the vaccine administered to Ontario residents. Just over 22.6 million doses have been administered in the province since the launch of the vaccination campaign.

There are 4,053 cases still active (known) in Ontario.
