Canada will donate 13 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to developing countries

This was reiterated today in the final communiqué of the summit in Cornwall. “The Covid-19 pandemic – reads the final message of G7 leaders – will not be under control anywhere until it is everywhere. Vaccine over 80, the second dose arrives

TORONTO – Reservations were opened yesterday for the early administration of the second dose of Covid vaccines for Ontario residents aged 80 and over.

Anticipating the times is possible as large quantities of vaccine doses are arriving in Canada: the country will receive 2.9 million doses this week thanks in large part to an increase in scheduled deliveries from Pfizer and BioNTech. (more…)

COVID-19 vaccine: Ontario is speeding up eligibility for second doses and “the majority of those who want them will be fully immunized by the end of summer”. And the schools will remain closed, Ontario’s premier Doug Ford said at a press conference on Friday morning.

Mixing COVID-19 vaccine doses increases mild symptoms but it is safe

TORONTO – Canada and Ontario are still grappling with the AstraZeneca node. The vaccine, although still considered safe by both Health Canada and the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (Naci) has been suspended as a precaution in some provinces of our country. In Ontario, as explained this week by Chief Medical Officer David Williams, the provisional stop was decided for two reasons: on the one hand the necessary caution pending new data on adverse reactions, on the other hand the lack of new supplies due to the announced delays in deliveries. Ontario expands vaccine eligibility to residents aged 45 and older in hot spots

TORONTO – Minimum requirements for receiving the Covid-19 vaccine are being lowered in Ontario hotspots. This was announced by the provincial minister of health Christine Elliott, confirming the news that she had been in the air for a few days now: the goal is to give a turning point to the vaccination campaign of the province, managing to reach another slice of the population that wants to vaccinate against Covid-19. NACI suspends AstraZeneca vaccine for people under 55

Toronto, March 30: Yesterday, Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization, in short, NACI has suspended the vaccination of AstraZeneca because of concerns over safety and advised the provinces, which most of the provinces agreed to follow. The reason for this is the issue of blood clots in the bodies of women in European countries. Although, 300,000 doses of the vaccine have already been administered in Canada and no blood clots have been reported anywhere, not even in the case of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines with mRNA properties. Ontario expanding vaccine booking

TORONTO – Ontario is racing against time on the vaccination front. The immunization campaign against Covid-19 is now being accelerated again with the opening of reservations to vaccinate even for people who are at least 75 years old: from March 15th the provincial system accepted reservations only for those who were at least 80. In order to get vaccinated, you must connect to the internet portal activated by the provincial government (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine)or by telephone, by calling the toll-free number 1-888-999-6488, where a telephone operator will collect the information necessary to make the reservation. Ontario to launch COVID-19 vaccine booking portal and call centre Monday

TORONTO – Online bookings for vaccination of over-80s in Ontario are kicking off. Starting at 8 am Monday morning, it will be possible for all people born in the year 1941 or before reserving the appointment for the first and second dose of vaccine by connecting to the provincial portal www.Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone, calling the Provincial Vaccine Information Line at 1-888-999-6488. Already in recent weeks some local public health units – such as that of the York Region, Hamilton and Peel – had begun accepting reservations for the first dose of the vaccine. (more…)
