TORONTO – Pressure on the government to ease anti-Covid restrictions and take another step towards what will be the post-pandemic normality. In the last twenty-four hours, numerous Canadian provinces have announced the setting aside of some measures to contain the pandemic, as well as in the rest of the world numerous governments have decided to eliminate some measures activated in the most acute phase of the Omicron wave.
Here in Canada, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has announced the immediate elimination of the vaccination certification necessary to go to restaurants and to access non-essential businesses. Away with the mask – even in schools – for all children aged 12 and under: the prime minister of Alberta, moreover, announced a roadmap towards normality that could be blocked in the event that there were to be a new surge in hospitalizations.
Saskatchewan has also chosen the path of easing anti-Covid restrictions. Prime Minister Scott Moe confirmed the provision of the vaccination certificate, while the obligation to use the mask will lapse at the end of the month. The road map developed in Quebec is more prudent. Prime Minister Francois Legault confirmed that a first significant easing of restrictions will take place starting from March 14, but vaccination certification and the obligation to wear a mask indoors will still remain in force even beyond that date.
At the same time, pressure is increasing on the Ontario government to develop a new roadmap on easing restrictions. The Ford executive, following the line of Chief Medical Officer Kiryan Moore, has for now chosen the strategy of prudence, keeping an eye on the data relating to hospitalizations and hospitalizations in intensive care.

A sentiment, that of Brown, shared by many local administrators who ask the government to accelerate on the relaxation of anti-Covid measures.
