TORONTO – Covid-19 hospitalizations in Ontario continue to drop significantly: today there were 1,540 people admitted to hospitals in the province, yesterday they were 1,704, Friday 1,829 and last week as many as 2,493. The number of people in intensive care also dropped from 414 on Saturday to 402 today, although their number could be higher because not all hospitals report their data over the weekend. TORONTO – With less than four months until the Provincial election, the Ford Government agrees to pay $5,000 to Ontario’s front-line nurses in publicly funded settings. The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) confirmed this in a statement (February 11), that said its president, Cathryn Hoy had met with Premier Ford and “negotiated a good-faith retention bonus for all front-line nurses in publicly-funded facilities”.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 31.2 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on February 13, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 37,546 vaccine doses on Saturday, down from 48,320 doses the day prior.
