Freedom Convoy, the protest does not stop

TORONTO – The Freedom Convoy protests, which started in Canada from Ottawa, are spreading like wildfire in 34 countries around the world including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Argentina, Austria, Cyprus, New Zealand, Australia. The capital of Canada, where truck drivers arrived in large numbers on January 29, continues to be besieged by a hundred protesters. Today, shouting “Freedom!” and “Fake news!” a group of trucks reached Ottawa International Airport causing traffic disruptions and delays.

Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of February 10, 2022, at 3:30 pm EST.

On Thursday, health officials in Portugal logged 27,651 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 3.0 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 78.9% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 47 Covid-related deaths for a total of 20,401 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Covid-19 in Ontario, the number of hospitalized under 2 thousand

TORONTO – The number of patients in Ontario hospitals for Covid-19 drops below 2,000: it is the first time since the beginning of January. But there are still many deaths: another 44 today, bringing the total from the beginning of the pandemic to 11,988. However, the drop in hospitalized patients is substantial: at the moment, there are 1,897, therefore 162 fewer than yesterday.
