The self-serve kiosk would not accept the birthday card purchase. The young lady assistant who came to my aid, said “I’m sorry sir, the rules don’t allow us to sell any cards except these. You cannot buy and I cannot sell the other.” The card was worth $1.13, tax included. →

TORONTO – Whenever I attend (virtually or in-person) meetings of the Toronto Catholic District School Board, I picture myself in the audience of a performance of Moliere’s comedic production, Tartufe. It is not a compliment.
This is to say: it is difficult to take these people seriously. Tartufe, the character and the play, have become synonymous with hypocrisy, duplicity, pious fraud and treachery. →

If History is any guide, when Adversity takes lives and property, leaders emerge to keep everyone focused on values that brought us where we are (moral fibre). The end goal (moral compass) guides thought, clarifies principles and speaks to what those “end goals” might be. →
It is frankly of little concern to me personally how, if or on what Bishop Crosby’s views differ from the Vatican’s official views on Catholicism. He does not return phone calls or respond to email questions from press like ours. We are a secular newspaper. →
