Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. TORONTO – From March 21 in Ontario it is no longer mandatory to wear a mask. The breakthrough was announced Wednesday by the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Kieran Moore. But, to wonder if this is a good idea are many. Virologists, teachers, simple residents believe that the measure is premature.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 31.8 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on March 10, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 14,705 vaccine doses on Wednesday, up from 13,764 doses the day prior.
TORONTO – Another 20 deaths were added today to the tragic “Covid-count” in Ontario. But the total, since the beginning of the pandemic, is not 12,638 (12,618 deaths until yesterday, plus today’s deaths), but 12,149. The provincial health authorities, in fact, have decided to review all the data, removing from the total count the “suspicious” deaths: those not directly attributable only to Covid-19. TORONTO – The virus does not give up in Ontario: despite the comforting data of the last few weeks, today’s numbers show a growing with another 20 deaths and 779 patients with Covid-19 in the hospitals of the province, down from 914 last week but in sharp increase compared to 693 on Monday and 684 on Sunday. Of the 779 patients currently in hospital, 246 are in intensive care, a number down from the 278 on last Tuesday and also on Monday’s 249. →
