On Tuesday, health officials in Spain logged 10,072 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 4.8 million. Of the cumulative total, 87.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 190, bringing the total number of fatalities to 83,527.
Globally, over 212 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 191 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 4.4 million worldwide.
According to health officials in Ontario, 16 of the 18 Covid-related fatalities reported on August 24 occurred more than two months ago.
