On Thursday, health officials in the Philippines logged 17,447 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 1.9 million. Of the cumulative total, 90.8% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 113, bringing the total number of fatalities to 32,841.
Globally, over 214 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 192 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 4.4 million worldwide.
According to health officials in Ontario, 14 of the 17 Covid-related fatalities reported on August 27, occurred more than two months ago.
