On Tuesday, health officials in Italy logged 170 844 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 6.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 78.6% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 222 Covid-related deaths for a total of 138,045 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
Globally, over 294 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 255 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 5.4 million worldwide.
