On Thursday, health officials in the UK logged 179,756 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 14 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 75.8% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 231 Covid-related deaths for a total of 149,515 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
Globally, over 299 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 257 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 5.4 million worldwide.
