On Tuesday, health officials in Italy logged 228,179 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 9.0 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 70.0% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 434 Covid-related deaths for a total of 141,825 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
Globally, over 333 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 270 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 5.5 million worldwide.
