On Sunday, health officials in Italy logged 40,757 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 16.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 91.5% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 105 Covid-related deaths for a total of 163,612 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
Globally, over 513 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 467 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 6.2 million worldwide.
The status of Covid-19 cases in India, Spain, Poland, Mexico, Portugal, Bangladesh and the UK do not reflect complete data for May 1, 2022.
