On Monday, health officials in the US logged 15,830 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 83.1 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 97.1% are considered recovered. As of 4 pm, authorities have reported 36 Covid-related deaths for a total of 1,020,906 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
Globally, over 514 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 468 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 6.2 million worldwide.
The status of Covid-19 cases in India, Spain, Poland, Mexico, Portugal, Bangladesh and the UK do not reflect complete data for May 2, 2022.
