Another record setting day in the province of Ontario. In the last 24-hours, provincial health officials reported 4,456 new infections and 605 patients in the ICU due to Covid-related critical illness. These figures are the highest reported since the start of the pandemic.
Also, in India, coronavirus cases race out of control as the country records another record high spike in daily new infections. In the last 24-hours, the country’s health officials reported an additional 169,899 new Covid-19 cases. That is the highest single-day increase since the start of the pandemic.
Globally, there have been over 135 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 109 million people have recovered and more than 2.9 million fatalities were attributable to Covid-19.
Spain has not updated figures since April 9, 2021.
