On Tuesday, health officials in the UK logged 26,852 new infections pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 6.3 million. Of the cumulative total, 77.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 170, bringing the total number of fatalities to 131,149.
Globally, over 208 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 187 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 4.3 million worldwide.
Of the 10 Covid-related fatalities reported by health authorities in Ontario on August 17, six occurred more than two months ago.
