TORONTO – Another 24 deaths related to Covid-19, today, in Ontario: despite the reassurances of the experts who speak of a descent of the curve, a decrease in hospitalizations and infections, an improvement in the situation, the virus continues to claim victims, whether they died with Covid (and therefore for other pathologies, but with the virus giving the “coup de grace”) or due to Covid. The tragic toll of the pandemic in Ontario thus rises to 13,265. (more…)

TORONTO – Two victims, which bring the total toll to 13,072, and 1,122 patients in Ontario hospitals: if the number of deaths is lower than usual, the same cannot be said of the hospitalizations that increased today compared to Sunday when the beds occupied by infected people were 1,024, that is almost 100 fewer. (more…)
TORONTO – Covid-19, the number of daily deaths in Ontario finally returns to zero: in the last 24 hours, in fact, no deaths have been recorded, after the worrying escalation of recent days. The total number of victims in the province since the beginning of the pandemic therefore remains unchanged: 12,972. (more…)
TORONTO – The “swing” of Covid hospitalizations continues: one day they drop, the next day they increase, and so on. Today in Ontario is the day of the decline: from the 1,734 yesterday to the 1,661 today. 202 patients in intensive care compared to 211 on Wednesday. The positive note is that there is a constant good data (at least so far) and it is that of the decline in active and known cases: today 31,464 against 31,675 on Wednesday (32,747 on Tuesday, 33,905 on Monday and 34,520 on Sunday). TORONTO – The sixth wave of Covid-19 is there, and it shows. Today, Ontario recorded another 10 deaths, bringing the total in the province, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 12,470. On the other hand, the updated data on hospitalizations due – a provincial health official said – to a scheduled maintenance of the computer systems are not available. But Saturday’s figure is enough to make it clear that the Omicron BA.2 variant is making the numbers rise with impressive speed: 855 people admitted to hospitals in the province, compared to 807 last Thursday and, above all, to 553 of just one week ago (March 28). (more…)
TORONTO – Hospitalizations from and with Covid-19 in Ontario continue to grow: today in the province’s hospitals there were 778 people, down from 790 yesterday, even a sharp increase compared to 611 a week ago. 165 patients in intensive care (92 with ventilators to breathe), the same number as yesterday. As for infections, 2,814 were recorded today but, due to the limitation of texts to “at risk” categories only, according to experts that the real number of infections could be about 10 times that figure. (more…)
TORONTO – Covid-19, hospitalizations in Ontario are returning to drop, after the surge recorded in recent days: today a total of 553 people were hospitalized in the hospitals of the province, including 157 inpatients in intensive care. Much less, therefore, than the 707 reported on Saturday and 667 on Friday, although it should be remembered that not all hospitals communicate their data on Sundays. (more…)
TORONTO – Covid-19: 661 people in Ontario hospitals today with Covid-19, including 165 intensive care inpatients. TORONTO – It was a Christmas under siege for Ontario: almost ten thousand new cases of Covid-19 a day, with a positivity rate that has reached 20%. Impressive data, which highlight the very high spread of the virus which, however, does not correspond to an increase in the proportion of hospitalizations: patients obviously increase (with similar numbers the opposite would be impossible), but their number does not reach, at least moment, equally impressive “peaks”. And this should at least comfort, because while the data relating to the tests are not complete (as we will explain in a few lines), there is no escaping those of the hospitalizations: those who are sick end up in hospital. But let’s start with the infections. (more…)
TORONTO – Slight drop in new cases today in Ontario: 3,784 reports, compared to 4,177 on Sunday (when, however, more swabs were carried out), but a sharp increase compared to the 1,536 reports reported just a week ago: now the rate of positivity approaches 10%. With 44,123 tests processed in the last 24 hours, officials report a rate of 9.7%, the highest number since May 3.
