Covid-19: in Ontario active cases in decline for four days, 22 dead (and another 22 in Quebec)

TORONTO – New, slight increase in infected patients in Ontario hospitals: 1,734 people today, compared to 1,730 in the previous 24 hours. 211 are in intensive care, eight fewer than on Wednesday but eight more than a week ago: 92 are breathing with the help of a ventilator. 

Many deaths were recorded today: 22, bringing the total in Ontario, from the beginning of the pandemic, to 12,772.

With 23,230 tests processed in the last 24 hours and 3,005 new cases detected, the positivity rate is now 15%. The active and non-active cases are 31,675 against 32,747 on Tuesday, 33,905 on Monday and 34,520 on Sunday: the decline in infections continues for the fourth consecutive day, even if as we know the tests are limited only to the categories “a risk “therefore probably, the number of infected people is much higher.

Today’s bulletin brings the total number of laboratory confirmed cases in Ontario since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,249,018, of which 1,204,571 resolved with the patient’s recovery.

There were also many deaths in Quebec today: 22, bringing the total in the French-speaking province from the beginning of the pandemic to 14,928.

On the other hand, hospitalizations are falling: 37 fewer patients in hospitals than on Tuesday. Now the total number of hospitalized patients is 2,372, of which 92 are in intensive care (+2). 2,066 new cases registered, with a positivity rate of 12.6%: active and knwon cases, official, are 36,421 against 34,380 on Tuesday and 32,742 on Monday, therefore in contrast with Ontario where instead in the same have dropped.

On the portal activated by the government to monitor the progress of the pandemic, today citizens entered the results of 610 do-it-yourself tests performed at home and 487 are positive. Since the portal was activated, out of 196. 779 tests entered independently by citizens, the positive ones are 160,674.

Since the start of the pandemic, Quebec has recorded 1,037,658 infections and 986,309 healings.
