Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – June 8, 2021: Canada stood today at 1,395,015 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 869 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – today reached 25,786 total deaths, 25 more than on Monday. In Canada today the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,347,274. The Inter-American Institute of Human Rights (IIHR) joined indigenous and human rights organizations so that the government of Canada could investigate the cases of abuse and death of hundreds of indigenous children who disappeared from institutions run by the Catholic Church. (more…)

The Mexican Secretary of Economy Tatiana Clouthier virtually visited Canada this Monday, June 7, the fifth most important commercial partner of Mexico. He spoke with Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade of Canada, with Francois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, as well as with Canadian businessmen about issues related to the North American Free Trade Agreement. The Toronto Transit Commission said in a news release (June 4) that work accomplished during the three 10-day shutdowns will allow the TTC to eliminate between 75-100 planned weekend closures over the next few years as well as eliminate the need to bypass Museum and Queen’s Park stations for up to two years. North America is home to the world’s largest freshwater lake system in the world. The Five Great Lakes: Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie and Ontario hold roughly, 5,400 cubic miles of water, accounting for approximately 20% of the world’s surface freshwater.
