The roadmap for the Government between times restricted and full agenda

TORONTO – Tight deadlines, a busy agenda and tension between the parties: these are the three boxes of a government puzzle that as the days go by takes on the appearance of a real puzzle. Justin Trudeau, after the Summit of the Three Amigos with US President Joe Biden and his Mexican counterpart Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Thursday, is preparing to turn the page and face the House of Commons for the first time since the vote on September 20th. The first two tasks, starting from November 22, are represented by the election of the Speaker of the House and the Speech of the Throne.

TORONTO – Ottawa, June 29, 2016. Justin Trudeau, along with U.S. President Barak Obama and his Mexican counterpart Enrique Peña Nieto, chairs the North American Leaders’ Summit (NALS), better known as the Three Amigos Summit. Since then, the leaders of the three countries have not met again. The break, which lasted over five years, was wanted by the previous Us administration led by former President Donald Trump and, last summer, by the uncertainties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, we are facing the turning point, with an attempt to normalization relations between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

On Tuesday, health officials in Greece logged 8,613 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 800 thousand. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 89.2% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 53 Covid-related deaths for a total of 16,414 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Board Chair position up for grabs at the TCDSB

It is that time of year when the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) decides who will hold the position of Chair and Vice-Chair. Trustees will soon make that decision at the Board meeting on November 25. After serving two years as Board Chair, Joseph Martino confirmed to the Corriere that he will not seek the position.

However, the position is a sought after; several Trustees are vying for the spot.

Covid: booster for vulnerable people but Ford won’t mandate vaccines for health-care workers

TORONTO – The long wait is over. The Ontario government has decided that due to concerns about staff shortages in hospitals, it will not make vaccination mandatory for health-care workers. This was announced today by Prime Minister Ford himself, sparking endless controversy: both the Ontario Science Table and doctors and experts in the field had asked to make the vaccine mandatory for health workers. “The issue is complex. After reviewing the situation our government decided to maintain its flexible approach by leaving the decision to individual hospitals,” he said.
