Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
Well, it’s official. Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has announced that he is running for the Federal Conservative leadership. He formally declared his candidacy on March 13, in a 25-minute speech, mostly in English with some French, at Queen’s Manor Event Centre in Brampton.

TORONTO – There are five months to the provincial vote, but in Ontario the election campaign has already begun and continues unabated. The government led by Prime Minister Doug Ford in recent days has given way to the Scientific Technical Committee and Chief Medical Officer Kieran Moore and has started a chain ad campaign that have so much the flavor of electoral promises. TORONTO – The countdown to next June’s vote has already begun. To kick off the unofficial election campaign was today the Speech from the Throne held in Queen’s Park by Deputy Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell, with which the executive led by Doug Ford has drawn up an overall assessment of the fight against Covid-19 in the last 18 months and, at the same time, has illustrated the priorities for the province in these last eight months of legislature before the appointment at the polls. As of this Sunday (June 20), the TTC is renumbering two bus routes in advance of future rapid transit lines entering service, informs the Toronto Transit Commission in a press release. The 5 Avenue Rd route will become 13 Avenue Rd and the 6 Bay route will become 19 Bay. These changes are being made in anticipation of Line 5 Eglinton (Eglinton Crosstown LRT) beginning service in 2022 and Line 6 Finch West (Finch West LRT) in 2023 (in the pic above, Keelesdale Station: photo credit LA).
