Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

Ontario: infections remain below 500

TORONTO – Ontario: 495 new infections today, slightly up from 466 on Tuesday and 463 a week ago. But still below 500, according to a reassuring trend that seems to be confirmed day after day. There were 613 new cases on Monday, 653 on Sunday and 640 on Saturday. The seven-day moving average is now 610, up from 692 a week ago. Today’s infections were detected on a total of about 36,400 tests in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 1.7%, relatively unchanged compared to a week ago. (more…)

Ontario easing COVID-19 restrictions but new cases remain above 2,000

[GTranslate]TORONTO – The provincial government announces the easing of some restrictions in many regions of Ontario, despite the progressive increase in Covid-19 infections. As had already happened during the last year during the pandemic, at certain stages there is a contradictory approach on the part of the executive in a delicate attempt to maintain a balance between health needs and those of the economy.
