Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Some friends of mine are spiritual. They believe in an otherworldliness that acknowledges a higher power from whom all morality flows and to whom, ultimately, we must all be accountable. Others focus more on the manifest expression of that morality as seen through deeds (good works): the innate golden rule “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. →
TORONTO – The Canadian Confederation, as a form of government, has a unique feature in its Constitution, or “corporate by-laws”. Under section 93, it ascribes to the provinces the sole jurisdiction for education. Within that section, it provides further exclusive “denominational rights” to certain citizens as a protection against the tyranny of the majority in a democratic society. →
VENICE – A paradoxical story, one of the many that in these “pandemic” months we have become accustomed to reading and telling. It is that of the Italians in Russia who are experiencing a real Odyssey during the summer holidays which for them have always represented an opportunity to review their beloved homeland and, of course, their family and friends of all time. →
You may have noticed that schools are closed. Children (that is the legal definition for people under the age of 18) are “studying remotely”, if at all. Distance learning is all the rage. Contagion, vaccination, “herd immunity” have displaced math, science, technical know-how, development of social skills, and critical thinking. →

Growing up in the heart of Manila where I was born, everything looked bright to me. I felt safe playing in the streets with my two younger siblings. My parents never had any cause to worry for our safety. The country which suffered at the hands of the Japanese Imperial Army during the war was experiencing a rebirth and everyone was excited to be part of this rebirth. →
