TORONTO – Just so that no-one gets the wrong impression, I am considered fully vaccinated for Covid-19, and have already had the now seemingly obligatory booster for greater efficacy. Nor am I ideologically or philosophically an “ant-vaxxer”. Neither I nor the Corriere are in the business of disseminating bad information, untruths or conspiracy theories – especially as they relate to the health and wellbeing of the population, irrespective of race, colour, sex, age.

Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of December 29, 2021, at 4:30 pm EST.

On Wednesday, health officials in Germany logged 41,816 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 7.1 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 83.6% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 381 Covid-related deaths for a total of 112,133 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Ontario, today 10,436 Covid-cases but they could be more than double

TORONTO – Covid-19 in Ontario, a new record broken: the province today recorded 10,436 new cases (and 3 deaths), surpassing the previous record-count of December 25 (10,412). But the actual infections in Ontario could be more than double: the laboratories have in fact processed 59,259 samples and 74,535 remain in the research phase. The year is drawing to a close and so too is the holiday season and all the craziness of 2021. From Covid-19 infections and its multiple mutations to catastrophic heat waves and deadly floods, it has been a tumultuous year. With 2022 around the corner, people are hoping for better days ahead and dreaming of that much needed getaway to escape all the mayhem.

In aumento a Toronto la violenza armata

TORONTO – A pochi giorni dalla fine del 2021, le sparatorie mortali a Toronto hanno superato le morti legate alle armi da fuoco dello scorso anno. TORONTO – Il Canada ha ufficialmente registrato più di due milioni di casi di Covid-19 dall’inizio della pandemia: 2.058.872, per l’esattezza.
