Surge of infections: almost a thousand cases in Ontario, 1,000 new daily infections in Quebec in the weekend

TORONTO – Despite the snow has whitened everything, it was a black weekend in Ontario on the Covid front. Today 964 new cases were registered, the highest number reported in a single day since last May 30, when 1,033 cases were detected. But Saturday and Friday wasn’t better, with – respectively – 854 and 927 infections. Now the seven-day moving average is 760, last week it was 645. Federal Government hopeful to extend a “lifeline” to businesses
Black Friday sales aside, now Cyber Monday deals entice customers to spend as the holidays draw near. However, small businesses are still reeling from the impacts of Covid-19 and the ongoing labour shortages combined with supply chain disruptions present further challenges in trying to build back lost revenue over the past 19 months.
According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), about 61% of small businesses have yet to meet their pre-pandemic revenues. Another 22% say they will not make it passed another six months at the current level of revenue loss. Time may be running out.

With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 22.9 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on November 28, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 33,249 vaccine doses on Saturday, up from 29,674 doses the day prior.
