Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of August 12, 2021, at 5:15pm EST.
On Thursday, health officials in Mexico logged 22,711 new infections pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 3.0 million. Of the cumulative total, 78.6% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 727, bringing the total number of fatalities to 246,203.
Canada, 22 million unused vaccines
TORONTO – From the desperate search for vaccines against Covid-19 to having millions of them in freezers throughout the country. Canada, it would seem, does not like half measures. Data on deliveries, distribution and injections of vaccines provided by Health Canada and the provinces show that nearly 22 million doses have been delivered to Canada but not yet used. This includes a national “reserve” of nearly 10 million doses and over 11.7 million doses provided to provincial and territorial governments that have yet to be administered. Continue reading→

Daily update of Ontario’s Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 20.0 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. On August 12, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 49,167 vaccine doses on Wednesday, up from 48,307 doses the day prior.

TORONTO – They had just said it yesterday and so it is: Ontario has arrived in the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, as today’s data confirm. 513 new cases in one day. A number that exceeds, for the first time since mid-June, the 500 daily infections, and which marks a daily increase compared to Wednesday, when 324 reports were recorded (321 on Tuesday, 325 on Monday and 423 on Sunday). In any case, more than double the 213 cases reported a week ago. Only on June 13, a higher number was registered than today: 530 cases. TORONTO – Not every day you have the pleasure of shaking hands and congratulating an Olympic champion. Adriana Leon, striker of the Canadian women’s football team, just back from the Tokyo Olympics where the girls won the gold medal by beating Sweden, wanted to visit the old neighbors and friends of Maple where she was born and who since she was a young girl there they saw her grow up with the ball on her foot. Back-to-school: the TDSB is getting ready, the TCDSB is not
TORONTO – There are just over three weeks left before the start of the new school year. Another year that will begin with the specter of the pandemic. Just in view of the return to school of the boys, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), illustrated at Highland Heights Junior Public School how it is preparing in terms of ventilation and safety measures. Non vedo l’ora di iniziare gli allenamenti, incontrare i compagni e lo staff e iniziare così una nuova tappa della mia vita” – ha dichiarato sorridente Messi, che ha poi ringraziato tutti i tifosi per “l’incredibile accoglienza”…
