Adriana Leon and her gold medal from Tokyo to Toronto

TORONTO – Not every day you have the pleasure of shaking hands and congratulating an Olympic champion. Adriana Leon, striker of the Canadian women’s football team, just back from the Tokyo Olympics where the girls won the gold medal by beating Sweden, wanted to visit the old neighbors and friends of Maple where she was born and who since she was a young girl there they saw her grow up with the ball on her foot.

Since she was a child, Adriana showed that she had the passion and talent necessary to become an internationally renowned champion: the Tokyo Olympics were for Adriana and all the other athletes who, like her, distinguished themselves during these races, proof and testimony of this.

Adriana stopped by for a drink in her honor with her mother, Mrs Lucia Leon, before going to BMO Field where a ceremony was held in her honor along with some other members of the Canadian team.

It was truly moving to see her again. A rare moment as Adriana now plays in England with West Ham United in London and this keeps her away from home for long periods.

Her desire would be to be able to play in Canada, and perhaps in Toronto: a dream shared with many friends, supporters and fans.

We wish Adriana all the best for a long and career crowned by many other successes.
