In Ontario 1,747 new infected and 15 deaths

[GTranslate]TORONTO – March 14, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 908,671 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 2,470 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,455 total deaths, 21 more than on Saturday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 854,575. Ontario yesterday reached 318,106 overall positives, an increase of 1,747 new cases compared to Saturday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,153, with 15 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 298,570, or 1.167 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.036 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 44 of the South African variant and 34 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were  601 people still in the hospital, 282 of them in intensive care and 186 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 84 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 14,972 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,750 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,736 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 102,641 positives yesterday, with an increase of 604 cases compared to Saturday. Meanwhile, there were 2,719 total deaths in the city, with 9 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours.

The York Region reached 30,296 total infections yesterday, with 166 more positives than on Saturday and 541 victims since the start of the pandemic, with 3 more new deaths in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, 28,792 people were recovered, while 140 people were still in hospital, 18 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 12,782 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 84 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 221 deaths, with no new casualties recorded yesterday, while 12,151 people were cured. 61 were hospitalized, 7 of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,561 cases of positivity, 3,724 in Maple, 4.042 in Richmond Hill and 7,839 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 65,424 coronavirus positives, 200 more than the last survey and 627 total victims, with 2 more deaths than on Saturday. There were 63,071 healings recorded in total, while 1,818 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 22,935 yesterday, 74 more than last Saturday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 378 victims so far, with one more death recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 21,990 people recovered from Covid-19 and 889 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 39,580, with 109 new cases of contagion more than on Saturday and equal to 60.5% of the entire Peel Region. 232 confirmed deaths, with no more victims, while 38,330 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 2,466 registered infections yesterday, 4 more than on Saturday, while 2,350 had recovered and 13 victims overall.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 11,241, with 83 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 295, with no more new deaths. Finally, there were 10,262 total recoveries.

In Ottawa, 15,562 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 68 positives compared to the last survey, while 447 people died, with no more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 14,504.

In Quebec yesterday there were 674 new registered cases, for a total of 297,592 infected, along with 5 additional deaths per 10,540 total victims.
