In Ontario 3,670 new infected and 15 more deaths

TORONTO – April 13, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,076,319 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 5,303 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 23,385 total deaths, 29 more than on Monday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 974,705. Ontario yesterday reached 394,705 overall positives, an increase of 3,670 new cases compared to Sunday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,582, with 15 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 351,257 or 2,573 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 20,487 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 81 of the South African variant and 143 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were 1,646 people still in hospital, 626 of them in intensive and 422 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 36 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,073 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,755 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,868 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 126,463 positives yesterday, with an increase of 1,012 cases compared to Monday. Meanwhile, there were 2,870 total deaths in the city, with 3 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 111,800 were found to be healed yesterday.

The York Region reached 38,707, total infections yesterday, with 511 more positives than on Monday and 566 victims since the start of the pandemic, with no more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 34,597 people were recovered, while 45 people were still in hospital, 7 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 16,430 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 222 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 227 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday, while 14,604 people were cured. 18 were hospitalized, 2 of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 7,088 total cases of positivity since the Covid-19 pandemic started, 4,441 in Maple, 5,457 in Richmond Hill and 9,571 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 79,711 coronavirus positives, 578 more than the last survey and 657 total victims, with 2 more deaths than on Monday. There were 74,386 healings recorded in total, while 2,165 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 28,196 yesterday, 252 more than last Monday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 390 victims so far, with one  more death recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 26,168 people recovered from Covid-19 and 1,038 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 48,022 with 310 new cases of contagion more than on Monday. 251 confirmed deaths, with no more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 45,071 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 3,158 registered infections yesterday, 34 more than on Monday, while 2,886 had recovered and 14 victims overall, with no more deaths.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 14,381, with 143 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 337, with 3 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

In Ottawa, 20,267 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 194 positives compared to the last survey, while 476 people died, with no more new deaths recorded since the last bulletin. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 17,174.

In Quebec yesterday there were 1,490 new registered cases, for a total of 329,472 infected, along with 12 additional deaths per 10,756 total victims.
