On Saturday, health officials in Italy logged 70,520 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 16.0 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 91.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 143 Covid-related deaths for a total of 162,609 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
Globally, over 509 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 461 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 6.2 million worldwide.
