A sad, painful and classy farewell

How cruel, I thought, that extended family, friends, business partners, employees neighbours and others could not participate in what supportive people need to do by nature – rally around those who suffer great personal loss.

[GTranslate]TORONTO – I mean no disrespect to the followers of religious ideologies whose detailed philosophic tenets are unfamiliar to me as I speak about the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of our Western culture. Without false humility, I can recall the years spent in the “public spaces” dominated by, and reserved for, religious minorities from other places. It was my duty as a public official to help the integration process where reciprocity, inclusion and rule of law were and are values common to us all.

Ontario to launch COVID-19 vaccine booking portal and call centre Monday

TORONTO – Online bookings for vaccination of over-80s in Ontario are kicking off. Starting at 8 am Monday morning, it will be possible for all people born in the year 1941 or before reserving the appointment for the first and second dose of vaccine by connecting to the provincial portal www.Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone, calling the Provincial Vaccine Information Line at 1-888-999-6488. Already in recent weeks some local public health units – such as that of the York Region, Hamilton and Peel – had begun accepting reservations for the first dose of the vaccine.

The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,363 total deaths, 31 more than on Wednesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 845,860. Ontario yesterday reached 313,520 overall positives, an increase of 1,092 new cases compared to Wednesday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,109, with 10 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 295,128, or 1.110 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 956 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 41 of the South African variant and 28 of the Brazilian variant.

The number of recovered people in the province rose to 294,018, or 1.212 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 908 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 39 of the South African variant and 17 of the Brazilian variant.
