Covid-19 in Ontario, the number of hospitalized under 2 thousand

TORONTO – The number of patients in Ontario hospitals for Covid-19 drops below 2,000: it is the first time since the beginning of January. But there are still many deaths: another 44 today, bringing the total from the beginning of the pandemic to 11,988. However, the drop in hospitalized patients is substantial: at the moment, there are 1,897, therefore 162 fewer than yesterday.

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of February 9, 2022, at 4:30 pm EST.

On Wednesday, health officials in the UK logged 68,214 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 18.0 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 86.6% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 276 Covid-related deaths for a total of 158,953 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

In Ontario no immediate plan to scrap vaccine passport

TORONTO – Pressure on the government to ease anti-Covid restrictions and take another step towards what will be the post-pandemic normality. In the last twenty-four hours, numerous Canadian provinces have announced the setting aside of some measures to contain the pandemic, as well as in the rest of the world numerous governments have decided to eliminate some measures activated in the most acute phase of the Omicron wave. 

Covid-19 in Ontario: another 66 dead, hospitalizations drop

TORONTO – Covid-19, the trend of the last few days is reconfirmed: hospitalizations in constant decline, death curve in continuous and decisive rise: today the victims in Ontario were 66, bringing the total from the beginning of the pandemic to 11,944. On the other hand, 2,059 people are currently in hospital with Covid-19, a sharp decline from the 2,254 on Tuesday. The number of people in intensive care has also fallen from 474 to 449.

Covid-19, altre 42 vittime in Ontario e 52 in Quebec. Via tutte le restrizioni in Sask

TORONTO – Nuovo calo, ieri, del numero di pazienti Covid-19 nelle terapie intensive dell’Ontario: adesso sono 474 ( contro i 486 di lunedì), il numero più basso dal lo scorso 10 gennaio, quando i ricoverati in ICU erano 438. Di questi pazienti, l’82% è effettivamente in cura per il Covid-19 mentre il 18% è risultato positivo dopo il ricovero avvenuto per altre patologie. 174 sono completamente vaccinati, 158 non sono vaccinati e 10 sono parzialmente vaccinati, mentre non sono state fornite informazioni sulla vaccinazione per i restanti 132 pazienti… Read More in Corriere Canadese >>>

On Tuesday, health officials in Russia logged 165,643 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 13.1 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 81.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 698 Covid-related deaths for a total of 336,721 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Protest, the ‘diehards’ of the Freedom Convoy do not leave Ottawa

OTTAWA – Ottawa is unable to get out of the stalemate that’s entering on its thirteenth day. The hard core of the truck drivers of the “Freedom Convoy” has no intention of leaving the capital where the state of emergency remains in force. A protest demonstration that initially did not seem to create other problems besides the inevitable inconveniences, has become a nightmare for the inhabitants and law enforcement in the first place.
