Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Canada is a two-speed country during this Covid pandemic: while in some provinces there is tentative evidence of loosening restrictions, in others further restrictions are implemented to stem the spread of the virus.
Ontario, as Premier Doug Ford announced last Thursday, will reopen in three steps at 21-day intervals: phase one is expected to begin on June 14. →
TORONTO – The positive trend in Ontario regarding the Covid-19 emergency continues. There were 2,170 new infections reported yesterday, down slightly from the 2,199 cases confirmed on Sunday. The latest count is a significant decrease from the 2,716 infections reported on Monday, May 10.
The number of deaths related to the virus also fell: yesterday there were four, the lowest daily death toll recorded since 22 March: overall deaths in the province rose to 8,489. →
