Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – The tragic toll of deaths related to Covid-19 in Ontario still rises: over the weekend 30 people died (2 today, 13 Saturday and 15 Friday) which are added to 20 on Thursday and bring the total to the province, from the beginning of the pandemic, to 13,225. One of two deaths today was an elderly person in a long-term care facility. →
TORONTO – Twenty deaths: Covid-19 continues to claim victims in Ontario, where today the number of deaths returned to rise dramatically, bringing the total number of victims in the province, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 13,195. →
TORONTO – After a long weekend that had given good hope, with few deaths and declining hospitalizations, the numbers of Covid-19 in Ontario are rising again: probably thanks to the failure to communicate the data, on holidays, by some hospitals. →
TORONTO – Covid data stopped: today, due to the celebration of Victoria Day, the provincial health officials did not provide the usual bulletin, but the balance of last weekend is still indicative and highlights a significant drop in infections, hospitalizations and of deaths. →
TORONTO – The number of hospitalized is decreasing: today there are 1,207 patients in hospital with Covid-19, of which 168 in intensive care. This marks a decrease in hospitalizations compared to 1,248 patients on Wednesday and 1,451 a week ago, while there are 3 more patients in intensive care than yesterday but 7 fewer than a week ago. 71 patients breathe with the help of a ventilator, 5 fewer than on Wednesday and 4 fewer than a week ago. →
