Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Ottawa starts again exactly as the last legislature ended: accusations, controversies, poisons. The climate of institutional bon ton lasted very little, time to elect the new Speaker of the House – with the reconfirmation of the Italian Canadian Anthony Rota – and to listen to the historic Speech from the Throne of the Governor General Mary Simon – the first in English, French and in the Inuit language – and in the Canadian parliament we returned to the old good manners. →
TORONTO – More than two months before the vote, the first session of the House of Commons will take place tomorrow. The parliamentary agenda for this week of work is already well defined. The first institutional step, which will be carried out tomorrow, is the election of the new Speaker of the Chamber. According to the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure, all MPs are formally candidates for the presidency of the House of Commons unless they indicate a will to the contrary. Stiamo assistendo a una fase politica molto particolare: quando sono in programma le consultazioni elettorali a fine primavera, la campagna elettorale non ufficiale solitamente inizia con la presentazione del budget primaverile del governo, una manovra sempre infarcita di promesse e programmi che, magicamente, non sono realizzabili in un anno, ma sono sviluppati su base quadriennale o quinquennale…

After the official visit to the Netherlands, the G20 Summit in Rome, the bilateral meetings – including the one with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi – and the climate summit in Glasgow, Trudeau is preparing to face a series of commitments at Parliament Hill that promise quite challenging.
