Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Backlash: Misogyny in the Digital Age, the feature documentary that, in its French-language version, has already become a smash theatrical hit in Quebec, will have its English theatrical premiere in Toronto at the Hot Docs Cinema on Friday, January 13 at 7 PM, with additional showings Saturday, January 14 at 3PM, Sunday, January 15 at 5PM, and Tuesday, January 17 at 4PM. Premieres in other Canadian cities will follow.
The controversy is becoming more and more heated. Last year, the Ontario premier Doug Ford pledged to make air conditioning mandatory in every nursing home, including residents’ rooms, but his government awarded construction contracts for new facilities that don’t include air conditioning systems throughout the building. →
On Saturday, July 5 at 11:00 am The City of Toronto opened 8 Emergency Cooling Stations. The city made the decision following a warning issued by the ECCC Environment and Climate Change Canada about the approaching heatwaves. →
