Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Worrying surge in Covid-19 cases in Ontario where the highest daily number of new infections in almost a month was recorded today: 636, compared to 508 cases on Saturday and 563 on Friday. The last time Ontario’s daily total exceeded 600 was on October 9th. →
TORONTO – The controversy over the long and troubled process of forming the new government is not over. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that the swearing-in of the new members of the executive will take place on October 26, while the first session of the House of Commons with the deputies elected in the September 20 elections has been scheduled for November 22. The roadmap set by the Liberal leader did not please the opposition, who denounced the delays and stigmatized the timing desired by Trudeau. →
TORONTO – Ontario remains between 500 and 600 new daily cases of Covid-19: 573 Friday, 654 Saturday and 535 Sunday (latest figure released). Ontario’s seven-day moving average is now 537, down from last week when it was 596. 29,755 tests were carried out on Sunday: the positivity rate in the province stood at 1.8 percent. There are also two new deaths that bring the total in the province, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 9,790. →
