In Ontario 1,268 new infected and 9 more deaths

[GTranslate]TORONTO – March 15, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 911,070 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 2,399 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,482 total deaths, 27 more than on Sunday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 856,903. Ontario yesterday reached 319,374 overall positives, an increase of 1,268 new cases compared to Sunday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,162, with 9 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 299,684, or 1.114 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.106 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 44 of the South African variant and 34 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were  699 people still in the hospital, 298 of them in intensive care and 187 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 87 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 14,984 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,750 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,740 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 103,002 positives yesterday, with an increase of 387 cases compared to Sunday. Meanwhile, there were 2,721 total deaths in the city, with 2 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours.

The York Region reached 30,439 total infections yesterday, with 147 more positives than on Saturday and 544 victims since the start of the pandemic, with 3 more new deaths in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, 28,890 people were recovered, while 142 people were still in hospital, 19 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 12,841 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 59 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 221 deaths, with no new casualties recorded yesterday, while 12,198 people were cured. 63 were hospitalized, 8 of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,582 cases of positivity, 3,750 in Maple, 4.063 in Richmond Hill and 7,859 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 65,648 coronavirus positives, 224 more than the last survey and 627 total victims, with no more deaths than on Sunday. There were 63,295 healings recorded in total, while 1,823 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 23,005 yesterday, 70 more than last Sunday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 378 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 22,064 people recovered from Covid-19 and 891 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 39,715, with 135 new cases of contagion more than on Sunday and equal to 60.5% of the entire Peel Region. 232 confirmed deaths, with no more victims, while 38,470 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 2,480 registered infections yesterday, 14 more than on Sunday, while 2,358 had recovered and 13 victims overall.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 11,315, with 74 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 295, with no more new deaths. Finally, there were 10,311 total recoveries.

In Ottawa, 15,637 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 75 positives compared to the last survey, while 449 people died, with 2 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 14,562.

In Quebec yesterday there were 594 new registered cases, for a total of 298,186 infected, along with 10 additional deaths per 10,550 total victims.
