In Ontario 1,571 new infected and 10 more deaths

TORONTO – March 24, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 944,772 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 3,748 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,753 total deaths, 23 more than on Tuesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 885,508. Ontario yesterday reached 333,690 overall positives, an increase of 1,571 new cases compared to Tuesday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,263, with 10 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 311,380 or 1.531 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.389 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 50 of the South African variant and 47 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were 893 people still in hospital, 333 of them in intensive care and 210 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 52 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,015 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,753 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,789 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 107,280 positives yesterday, with an increase of 484 cases compared to Tuesday. Meanwhile, there were 2,766 total deaths in the city, with 4 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours.

The York Region reached 31,804 total infections yesterday, with 157 more positives than on Tuesday and 550 victims since the start of the pandemic, with no more deaths in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, 30,113 people were recovered, while 25 people were still in hospital, 5 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 13,381 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 58 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 223 deaths, with no more new casualties recorded yesterday, while 12,718 people were cured. 10 were hospitalized, one of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,707 cases of positivity, 3,568 in Maple, 4.318 in Richmond Hill and 8.123 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 68,528 coronavirus positives, 301 more than the last survey and 634 total victims, with no more deaths than on Tuesday. There were 65,518 healings recorded in total, while 1,876 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 24,061 yesterday, 127 more than last Tuesday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 379 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 22,863 people recovered from Covid-19 and 921 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 41,428, with 249 new cases of contagion more than on Tuesday. 240 confirmed deaths, with one more victim in the previous 24 hours, while 39,823 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 2,611 registered infections yesterday, 20 more than on Tuesday, while 2,484 had recovered and 13 victims overall, with no more deaths.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 12,099, with 87 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 302, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours. Finally, there were 10,859 total recoveries.

In Ottawa, 16,332 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 80 positives compared to the last survey, while 457 people died, with no more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 15,128.

In Quebec yesterday there were 783 new registered cases, for a total of 304,490 infected, along with 8 additional deaths per 10,626 total victims.
