The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,874 total deaths, 22 more than on Saturday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 898,513. Ontario yesterday reached 343,140 overall positives, an increase of 2,448 new cases compared to Saturday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,327, with 19 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 317,408 or 1.543 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.625 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 63 of the South African variant and 67 of the Brazilian variant.
Yesterday there were 917 people still in hospital, 366 of them in intensive care and 217 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 50 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,029 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,753 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,811 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.
The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 110,636 positives yesterday, with an increase of 804 cases compared to Saturday. Meanwhile, there were 2,786 total deaths in the city, with 9 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 101,307 were found to be healed yesterday.
The York Region reached 32,830 total infections yesterday, with 264 more positives than on Saturday and 554 victims since the start of the pandemic, with 3 more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 30,727 people were recovered, while 29 people were still in hospital, 5 of them in intensive care.
In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 13,489 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 108 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 224 deaths, with one more new death recorded yesterday, while 12,948 people were cured. 15 were hospitalized, 3 of them in intensive care.
At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,911 cases of positivity, 3,684 in Maple, 4.507 in Richmond Hill and 8.340 in Markham.
In the Peel Region yesterday there were 70,059 coronavirus positives, 372 more than the last survey and 639 total victims, with 3 more deaths than on Saturday. There were 66,903 healings recorded in total, while 1,913 people were hospitalized.
In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 24,558 yesterday, 124 more than last Saturday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 382 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 23,351 people recovered from Covid-19 and 937 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 42,371, with 232 new cases of contagion more than on Saturday. 243 confirmed deaths, with 3 more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 40.625 were found to be healed yesterday.
In Caledon, there were 2,687 registered infections yesterday, 8 more than on Saturday, while 2,568 had recovered and 13 victims overall, with no more deaths.
In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 12,505, with 48 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 309, with no more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. Finally, there were 11,254 total recoveries.
In Ottawa, 16,881 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 126 positives compared to the last survey, while 459 people died, with no more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 15,393.
In Quebec yesterday there were 917 new registered cases, for a total of 308,311 infected, along with 2 additional deaths per 10,647 total victims.
