In Ontario 3,215 new infected and 17 more deaths

[GTranslate]TORONTO – April 7, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,025,502 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 6,825 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 23,168 total deaths, 36 more than on Tuesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 940,856. Ontario yesterday reached 370,817 overall positives, an increase of 3,215 new cases compared to Tuesday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,475, with 17 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 335,983 or 2,407 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 2,291 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 72 of the South African variant and 120 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were 1,397 people still in hospital, 504 of them in intensive care and 311 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 52 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,066 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,755 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,853 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 119,598 positives yesterday, with an increase of 1,173 cases compared to Tuesday. Meanwhile, there were 2,831 total deaths in the city, with 4 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 107,094 were found to be healed yesterday.

The York Region reached 35,804 total infections yesterday, with 345 more positives than on Tuesday and 564 victims since the start of the pandemic, with 2 more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 32,787 people were recovered, while 47 people were still in hospital, 8 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 15,158 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 142 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 226 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday, while 13,816 people were cured. 21 were hospitalized, 2 of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 6,513 cases of positivity, 4,068 in Maple, 4,974 in Richmond Hill and 8,940 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 75,414 coronavirus positives, 660 more than the last survey and 649 total victims, with no more deaths than on Tuesday. There were 70,944 healings recorded in total, while 2,040 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 26,632 yesterday, 283 more than last Tuesday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 384 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 24,827 people recovered from Covid-19 and 989 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 45,565 with 414 new cases of contagion more than on Tuesday. 250 confirmed deaths, with no more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 43,155 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 2,926 registered infections yesterday, 33 more than on Tuesday, while 2,741 had recovered and 14 victims overall, with no more deaths.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 13,635, with 132 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 330, with 7 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

In Ottawa, 18,632 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 196 positives compared to the last survey, while 470 people died, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 16,236.

In Quebec yesterday there were 1.168 new registered cases, for a total of 318,532 infected, along with 4 additional deaths per 10,701 total victims.
