TORONTO – The Catholic teachers union OECTA declares war on its members’ employer: the York Catholic District School Board. The president of the York Catholic Teachers, Mike Totten, has in fact sent a very harsh letter to trustee Frank Alexander, “guilty” – according to Totten – of having presented a motion, being discussed at today evening’s board of trustees, to overcome the divisions caused, in recent months, by requests to fly flags in YCDSB schools other than those recognized by all, in particular the one of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Si possono seguire altre filosofie o cercare di attuare altri ideali, ma in tal caso non si può rivendicare l’appartenenza ad un’altra organizzazione…
TORONTO – We are a lay newspaper, reporting on human behaviour, analyzing motivations, explaining contexts and evaluating “values” – if any – generated by those dynamics. Leaders and organizations, formal and informal, typically assume (or are given) the privilege of codifying the philosophies and ideologies that define the criteria for membership in their organizations and confer dignity on the journey of Life. One can follow other philosophies or seek to implement other ideals, but, then one cannot claim membership in that (RC) organization.
CIDADE DO VATICANO – Se tivesse sido qualquer ativista pró-vida ou anti-gênero quem disse isso, ninguém teria prestado atenção. Mas se for o Papa Francisco quem o diz, a situação muda e declarações como “a barriga de aluguer é deplorável” e “a teoria do género é muito perigosa” tornam-se inevitavelmente um caso político internacional. Até porque quem faz estas declarações inequívocas e categóricas não é um Pontífice qualquer, mas o próprio Papa que, há pouco mais de um mês, decidiu que as pessoas LGBT+ e transgénero poderão ser padrinhos/madrinhas e testemunhas em batizados e casamentos e que as crianças de pais trans ou homossexuais podem ser batizados.
VATICAN CITY – Had it been said by any pro-life or “anti-gender” activist, no one would have paid any attention. But when the author is Pope Francis, the perception takes on a weighty tone. Affirmations that “surrogacy is regrettable” and that “gender theory (ideology) is very dangerous” will inevitably take on an international political importance. All the more so because the Pope making these unequivocal and categorical declarations is not just any Pontiff. It is the same Pope who, just over a month ago, decided that LGBT+ and transgender people could be godfathers/godmothers and witnesses at the Sacraments of baptisms and weddings; moreover, stated that children of trans or homosexual parents could also be baptized.
