
In Ontario 1TORONTO – May 25, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,364,729 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 3,165 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 25,314 total deaths, 72 more than on Monday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,289,754. Ontario yesterday reached 524,950 overall positives, an increase of 1,039 new cases compared to Monday, the lowest daily increase since March 6. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 8,655, with 33 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 497,269 or 2,018 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 120,130 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 817 of the South African variant and 2.462 of the Brazilian variant.
Yesterday there were 1,025 people still in hospital, 692 of them in intensive care and 498 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 35 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,286 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,947 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 7,079 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.
The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 165,440 positives yesterday, with an increase of 325 cases compared to Monday. Meanwhile, there were 3,341 total deaths in the city, with 9 new victims. 160.667 were found to be healed yesterday. There were 944 people still in hospital, 255 in intensive care and 159 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing.
The York Region reached 51,424 total infections yesterday, with 85 more positives than on Monday and 656 victims since the start of the pandemic. Yesterday, 49,931 people were recovered.
In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 21,257 yesterday, or 41% of the entire York Region, with 42 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 257 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday.
In Woodbridge yesterday there were 9,138 total cases of positivity since the Covid-19 pandemic started, 6,069 in Maple, 7,292 in Richmond Hill and 12,293 in Markham.
In the Peel Region yesterday there were 108,019 coronavirus positives, 219 more than the last survey and 756 total victims, with 2 more deaths than on the last bulletin. There were 104,745 healings recorded in total, while 2,957 people were hospitalized.
In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 38,864 yesterday, 219 more than last Monday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 431 victims so far, with 2 more deaths recorded, while there were 37,507 people recovered from Covid-19 and 1,406 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 64,476 with 219 new cases of contagion more than on Monday. 305 confirmed deaths, with one more victim since the last bulletin, while 62,682 were found to be healed yesterday.
In Caledon, there were 4,321 registered infections yesterday, 7 more than on Monday, while 4,225 had recovered and 18 victims overall, with no more deaths confirmed.
In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 20,171 with 45 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 378, with no more new death recorded in the last 24 hours.
In Ottawa, 26,691 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 48 positives compared to the last survey, while 558 people died, with 2 more new deaths recorded since the last bulletin. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 25,278.
In Quebec yesterday there were 346 new registered cases, for a total of 368,155 infected, along with 6 additional deaths per 11.101 total victims.
