In Ontario 1,074 new infected and 11 more deaths

[GTranslate]TORONTO – March 16, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 914,801 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 3,731 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,514 total deaths, 32 more than on Monday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 860,738. Ontario yesterday reached 320,448 overall positives, an increase of 1,074 new cases compared to Monday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,173, with 11 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 300,769, or 1.085 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.131 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 46 of the South African variant and 34 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were  761 people still in the hospital, 292 of them in intensive care and 194 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 80 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 14,987 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,752 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,746 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 103,351 positives yesterday, with an increase of 382 cases compared to Monday. Meanwhile, there were 2,726 total deaths in the city, with 5 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours.

The York Region reached 30,553 total infections yesterday, with 115 more positives than on Monday and 544 victims since the start of the pandemic, with no more deaths in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, 29,013 people were recovered, while 140 people were still in the hospital, 18 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 was 12,897 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 54 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 221 deaths, with no new casualties, recorded yesterday, while 12,243 people were cured. 61 were hospitalized, 7 of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,582 cases of positivity, 3,750 in Maple, 4.091 in Richmond Hill and 7,876 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 65,896 coronavirus positives, 248 more than the last survey and 627 total victims, with no more deaths than on Monday. There were 63,509 healings recorded in total, while 1,824 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 23,108 yesterday, 70 more than last Sunday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 378 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 22,141 people recovered from Covid-19 and 892 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton, the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 39,844, with 129 new cases of contagion more than on Monday and equal to 60.5% of the entire Peel Region. 232 confirmed deaths, with no more victims, while 38,599 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 2,484 registered infections yesterday, 4 more than on Monday, while 2,358 had recovered and 13 victims overall.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 11,381, with 66 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 296, with one more new death. Finally, there were 10,360 total recoveries.

In Ottawa, 15,696 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 59 positives compared to the last survey, while 449 people died, without more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 14,627.

In Quebec yesterday there were 561 new registered cases, for a total of 298,747 infected, along with 8 additional deaths per 10,558 total victims.
