In Ontario 1,095 new infected and 23 more deaths

TORONTO – May 26, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,367,156 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 2,427 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 25,352 total deaths, 38 more than on Tuesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,295,531. Ontario yesterday reached 526,045 overall positives, an increase of 1,095 new cases compared to Tuesday, the lowest daily increase since March 3. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 8,678, with 23 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 499,640 or 2,371 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 121,122 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 836 of the South African variant and 2,505 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were 1,073 people still in hospital, 672 of them in intensive care and 469 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 33 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,290 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,950 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 7,077 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 165,764 positives yesterday, with an increase of 353 cases compared to Tuesday. Meanwhile, there were 3,348 total deaths in the city, with 7 new victims. 160,993 were found to be healed yesterday. There were 942 people still in hospital, 255 in intensive care and 159 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing.

The York Region reached 51,533 total infections yesterday, with 113 more positives than on Monday and 656 victims since the start of the pandemic. Yesterday, 50,077 people were recovered.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 21,719 yesterday, or 41% of the entire York Region, with 48 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 257 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday.

In Woodbridge yesterday there were 9,161 total cases of positivity since the Covid-19 pandemic started, 6,093 in Maple, 7,313 in Richmond Hill and 12,313 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 108,266 coronavirus positives, 247 more than the last survey and 758 total victims, with 2 more deaths than on the last bulletin. There were 105,204 healings recorded in total, while 2,970 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 38,970 yesterday, 247 more than last Tuesday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 433 victims so far, with 2 more deaths recorded, while there were 37,667 people recovered from Covid-19 and 1,414 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 64,607 with 247 new cases of contagion more than on Tuesday. 305 confirmed deaths, with no more victims since the last bulletin, while 62,970 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 4,332 registered infections yesterday, 11 more than on Tuesday, while 4,235 had recovered and 18 victims overall, with no more deaths confirmed.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 20,224 with 53 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 380, with 2 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

In Ottawa, 26,754 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 63 positives compared to the last survey, while 561 people died, with 3 more new deaths recorded since the last bulletin. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 25,397.

In Quebec yesterday there were 308 new registered cases, for a total of 368,463 infected, along with 4 additional deaths per 11.105 total victims.
