In Ontario 2,094 new infected and 10 more deaths

[GTranslate]TORONTO – March 29, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 968,453 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 3,941 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,894 total deaths, 20 more than on Sunday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 901,256. Ontario yesterday reached 345,234 overall positives, an increase of 2,094 new cases compared to Sunday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,337, with 10 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 318,932 or 1.524 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.749 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 63 of the South African variant and 82 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were 841 people still in hospital, 382 of them in intensive care and 236 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 54 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,030 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,753 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,816 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 111,270 positives yesterday, with an increase of 670 cases compared to Sunday. Meanwhile, there were 2,788 total deaths in the city, with 2 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 101,724 were found to be healed yesterday.

The York Region reached 33,125 total infections yesterday, with 301 more positives than on Sunday and 554 victims since the start of the pandemic, with 3 more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 30,916 people were recovered, while 29 people were still in hospital, 5 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 13,959 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 132 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 224 deaths, with one more new death recorded yesterday, while 13,037 people were cured. 17 were hospitalized, 3 of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,969 cases of positivity, 3,718 in Maple, 4.552 in Richmond Hill and 8.414 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 70,476 coronavirus positives, 417 more than the last survey and 639 total victims, with no more deaths than on Sunday. There were 67,253 healings recorded in total, while 1,931 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 24,719 yesterday, 161 more than last Sunday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 382 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 23,459 people recovered from Covid-19 and 945 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 42,604, with 233 new cases of contagion more than on Sunday. 243 confirmed deaths, with no more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 40.830 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 2,698 registered infections yesterday, 11 more than on Sunday, while 2,585 had recovered and 13 victims overall, with no more deaths.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 12,568, with 63 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 309, with no more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. Finally, there were 11,325 total recoveries.

In Ottawa, 17,065 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 184 positives compared to the last survey, while 460 people died, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 15,472.

In Quebec yesterday there were 891 new registered cases, for a total of 309,202 infected, along with 5 additional deaths per 10,651 total victims.
