[GTranslate]TORONTO – March 31, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 980,041 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 5,025 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,951 total deaths, 30 more than on Tuesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 909,959. Ontario yesterday reached 349,903 overall positives, an increase of 2,333 new cases compared to Tuesday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,366, with 15 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 322,382 or 1.973 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.898 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 70 of the South African variant and 92 of the Brazilian variant.
Yesterday there were 1.111 people still in hospital, 396 of them in intensive care and 252 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 43 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,044 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,753 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,820 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.
The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 112,862 positives yesterday, with an increase of 883 cases compared to Tuesday. Meanwhile, there were 2,796 total deaths in the city, with 7 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 102,697 were found to be healed yesterday.
The York Region reached 33,567 total infections yesterday, with 209 more positives than on Tuesday and 554 victims since the start of the pandemic, with no more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 31,268 people were recovered, while 41 people were still in hospital, 4 of them in intensive care.
In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 14,134 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 83 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 224 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday, while 13,169 people were cured. 16 were hospitalized, 2 of them in intensive care.
At Woodbridge yesterday there were 6,045 cases of positivity, 3,766 in Maple, 4.635 in Richmond Hill and 8.509 in Markham.
In the Peel Region yesterday there were 71,410 coronavirus positives, 495 more than the last survey and 642 total victims, with one more death than on Tuesday. There were 67,964 healings recorded in total, while 1,949 people were hospitalized.
In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 25,090 yesterday, 182 more than last Tuesday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 382 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 23,707 people recovered from Covid-19 and 952 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 43,126 with 300 new cases of contagion more than on Tuesday. 246 confirmed deaths, with one more victim in the previous 24 hours, while 41,266 were found to be healed yesterday.
In Caledon, there were 2,744 registered infections yesterday, 21 more than on Tuesday, while 2,608 had recovered and 13 victims overall, with no more deaths.
In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 12,854, with 124 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 315, with 3 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
In Ottawa, 17,294 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 117 positives compared to the last survey, while 464 people died, with 3 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 15,597.
In Quebec yesterday there were 1.025 new registered cases, for a total of 311,091 infected, along with 9 additional deaths per 10,667 total victims.
